Barre

barre studio

Lately, my forms of exercise have been a combination of Barre classes, 3 mile runs,  and 10-15 minute yoga or stretching sessions in the morning. I’ve quickly become addicted to Barre even though I had to pause my first time in fear of fainting! I stopped half-way through and rested outside for a break, yet somehow I wanted to return. After that first class, I have become completely addicted. I highly recommend it. It’s the combination of the ambiance, community, brilliant instructor (who, when I mentioned I pulled a muscle, she provided me with a stretch that cured it after completing it once), and the workout. I take comfort in her choosing moves and stretches that benefit your well-being (“this is especially helpful if you have a weak lower back from running”). And some barre studios have mirrors, but this studio doesn’t, omitting all judgment.

tone it up

On another note, cheers to these two for whipping me into shape for the past couple of years. I’m sad to finally have to share them with the world as their new show aired on Bravo on January 2. I’m selfish – don’t make them too famous!! On the other hand, if you’re reading this, the community of women that has formed from these two is by far the best and most positive community I’ve ever been a part of. If you visit toneitup.com and sign up for free, you’ll see the positive reinforcement and support that exists between the thousands of members.
